Onboard Streaming for VIPs @ DIOR Men SS 26

For the DIOR Men Spring/Summer 2026 fashion show, I designed and deployed a sophisticated mobile streaming solution to capture VIP experiences as they traveled through Paris city center.

The Challenge

The production required live streaming from moving vehicles navigating through central Paris — a technically demanding environment with unpredictable connectivity. We needed to deliver broadcast-quality video from multiple cameras in each vehicle, ensuring uninterrupted coverage throughout the journey.

Technical Solution

Streaming Infrastructure

The system was built around professional broadcast equipment:

• OBE encoders - Installed in each vehicle for video encoding
• OBE decoder - Positioned in the control room for seamless integration into the live production
• Zixi protocol with AWS - For reliable video transport and bonding

Connectivity Strategy

To ensure redundant, high-bandwidth connectivity in a mobile environment, each vehicle was equipped with:

• Multiple 5G modems - Primary connectivity with carrier diversity
• Starlink Mini - Satellite backup for areas with poor cellular coverage

This dual approach guaranteed consistent streaming quality regardless of location or network congestion.

Implementation

In-Vehicle Setup

Each car was configured as a mobile broadcast unit with dual-camera capability:

OBE encoder with integrated 5G modems

Starlink Mini providing satellite connectivity backup

Control Room Integration

The control room setup enabled real-time monitoring and mixing of all feeds:

OBE decoder receiving bonded streams

Multiview monitoring of all six camera feeds

Integration with the main production switcher

Results

The deployment successfully delivered:

• 6 simultaneous live feeds - 2 cameras per vehicle across 3 VIP cars
• Uninterrupted coverage - Zero dropouts thanks to redundant connectivity
• Broadcast quality - Professional-grade video integrated directly into the live production
• Real-time monitoring - Full visibility of all feeds for the production team
